The soon to be defunct Folkestone Bus Station – Scopix
Get ready for an epic upgrade to your daily commute! Bus shelters across Folkestone, Hythe, and the Romney Marsh are getting a massive makeover. We’re not talking about a simple touch-up—we’re talking about a full-on revolution.
Imagine this: you’re waiting for the bus, but instead of huddling in a rickety old shelter, you’re relaxing in a modern, comfortable space. The new shelters will feature better protection from the elements, improved seating, and reinforced windows. But that’s not all! They’ll also include cutting-edge digital screens to keep you informed and entertained while you wait.
This is all thanks to a partnership with Bauer Media Outdoor UK, who will install 37 brand new shelters across the district. This project is a win-win for the community. The advertising revenue from the new shelters will provide a guaranteed income for the council, which will be directly reinvested into improving the local bus network.”This enterprising initiative will not only modernise our shelters but also encourage residents and visitors to use our bus services,” said Cllr Polly Blakemore, Cabinet Member for Transport. Will Ramage, Managing Director at Bauer Media Outdoor, added that this partnership is a “great example of how we can make a real difference at a local level…we’re helping to create better everyday journeys for residents and visitors across the district.”
The first of the new shelters are already being installed, with the full rollout expected to be complete by the end of the year. Get ready to experience a whole new way to wait for the bus!
