A woman has died after a dinghy carrying migrants deflated about 10 miles off the coast of Dover today, 9 September 2025. Kent Police said the woman was airlifted to Dover after the incident just after midday but she was pronounced dead.

The UK Coastguard, a Border Force vessel, and two lifeboats responded to the Mayday call. Several other people were rescued from the water. It’s understood an investigation was launched into reports a migrant boat reached the Kent coast on Saturday without being intercepted by Border Force. Five people were detained near Kingsdown in connection with the incident.
