Ashford Borough Council is urging residents to supercharge their recycling efforts after they helped the council with a fantastic start by increasing food waste recycling by 5%. But there is still have a big opportunity ahead of them with nearly half of all food waste in the borough is still being thrown away, costing money and harming the environment.
Your food caddy is the key to unlocking the full potential of your waste. By placing items like leftovers, bread, meat, and vegetables in the caddy, you’re not just getting rid of rubbish; you’re helping create renewable energy that goes back into our national grid and generates power for thousands of homes.
As part of a new campaign, the council is providing every home with a recycling guide and a fresh roll of compostable liners. They’ll also be placing stickers on bins that don’t have a food caddy out on collection day, just as a friendly reminder to help them meet their goals. Remember, no amount is too small. Every single banana peel and coffee ground counts toward a cleaner, greener Ashford.
