A Gillingham man has been charged with 10 counts of theft following a series of shoplifting incidents at supermarkets in Medway. The alleged thefts, which took place between July 22 and September 13, targeted Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores in Gillingham and Chatham.
Police began an investigation after store staff reported multiple incidents of bulk shoplifting. According to authorities, stolen items included cleaning products and bottles of spirits with a total value exceeding £650. Detectives used CCTV footage to identify a suspect, who was arrested on September 13.
A man aged 50, was formally charged and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 16. He has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear for a follow-up hearing on October 24.
