A man has been charged and appeared in court following an incident in Rochester where a police officer was injured during an alleged assault. It occurred while officers were on patrol in the High Street area. Police were drawn to suspicious behaviour near a car park around 1:30 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Upon approaching a suspect, the man reportedly attempted to flee the scene. During the ensuing confrontation, one officer was allegedly assaulted, sustaining head injuries that required hospital treatment. The officer has since been released.
Following the arrest of the suspect, officers recovered cocaine, cash, and two mobile phones at the scene. The individual, described as a 29-year-old man of no fixed address, was subsequently charged with actual bodily harm, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, and obstructing a constable in their duty. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 29, and was remanded in custody. The man is scheduled to make his next court appearance at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, October 27, 2025.
