Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a serious assault where a man was attacked with a knife at Maidstone services near Junction 8 of the M20 motorway last Friday. The victim suffered lacerations to his arm and chest after being approached by an unknown assailant in an area close to the Esso petrol station. The incident occurred between 11 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025.

Authorities state the victim was walking from the nearby Days Inn Hotel when the assault took place. After the attack, the man returned to the hotel, and emergency services were called. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 6 feet tall, with stubble, and wearing dark clothing. He is also believed to have spoken with an Eastern European accent. Officers are urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with dashcam footage that could assist the investigation, to come forward.

PC Megan Lovelock said:

‘We are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident which is reported to have been an unprovoked attack. Whilst it took place late in the evening, the area is well lit and would have been busy with cars and lorries. It is possible people may have videoed the assault on their phones and we are also urging drivers to review dashcams which may contain important footage.’
