A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson after four separate car fires broke out across Thanet in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Kent Police were called to the incidents at addresses on Edgar Road, Northdown Road, and Richmond Avenue in Margate, as well as on Upton Road in Broadstairs. The vehicle fires, which investigators are treating as suspicious, occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 8.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service successfully extinguished all the blazes, and thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The suspect was detained by officers on Upton Road, Broadstairs, at 7:11 am on Wednesday. He currently remains in police custody as the investigation continues.

Detectives have launched a full arson investigation and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Anyone who can assist the police with their inquiries is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/173990/25.
