Kent Police have delivered a blow to unlawful practices among delivery drivers in Thanet, concluding a fourth successful road traffic policing operation focused on rooting out those operating without proper documentation, insurance, or licences.
The latest operation, which took place on Friday, September 26, 2025, saw officers set up near Westwood Cross in Broadstairs, utilizing both marked and unmarked vehicles for proactive stop checks. A total of 45 vehicles were stopped, yielding a significant number of offences and resulting in several arrests.
The sweep uncovered a range of illegal activities, emphasizing the need for continued enforcement in the area:
- Vehicles Seized: Three vehicles—two cars and one moped—were seized due to licence offences.
- E-Scooters and E-Bikes: A total of seven powered two-wheelers (six e-scooters and one e-bike) were impounded for illegal usage and having power outputs over the prescribed limit.
- Traffic Tickets Issued: Fourteen traffic tickets were handed out for offences including using a mobile phone while driving, illegal parking, illegal window tints, and an illegal numberplate.
- Arrests Made: Two individuals were arrested:
- A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
- An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
- Drug Searches: Officers also conducted three searches under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The success of this operation highlights Kent Police’s ongoing commitment to road safety and ensuring that all delivery drivers adhere to the law, maintaining fair competition and safety on Thanet’s roads.
