A flat in Gravesend High Street linked to constant drug dealing and antisocial behaviour is staying closed after police won an extension on a court order.

Kent Police first shut the flat on July 18th for three months. This made it a crime for anyone to enter or leave, with arrests as the penalty. On Tuesday, October 14th, officers successfully applied for the closure to be extended for a further three months.

PC Jo Hammond confirmed: “Closure orders are a vital tool against antisocial behaviour. Since the first closure, there have been no reports of concerns or complaints.

She added that the extension provides assurance that police are “committed to doing everything we can to ensure residents’ lives are not blighted by one household.”
