Residents of a flat complex in Cobbs Place, Margate, were forced to evacuate on Friday night after a severe kitchen fire erupted, prompting a massive emergency response.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) received the call at 9:17 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025 and a total of four fire engines were quickly deployed to the scene in the Thanet area. Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, mounted an aggressive attack on the blaze. They utilized both high-pressure hose reel jets and powerful main jets to finally bring the intense flames under control nearly three hours later, with the incident officially closed at 11:56 PM.
The entire building was evacuated immediately as a precaution, with crews working tirelessly to contain the damage and ensure the scene was safe. Thankfully, KFRS confirmed that no injuries were reported among residents or emergency personnel. Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) were also on standby to assist with the operation. Once the all-clear was given, residents were allowed to return to their homes.
The cause of the extensive kitchen fire remains unknown and is subject to further investigation.
