Pair Jailed For More Than 16 Years Over Armed Robbery in Chatham

A victim who was robbed and stabbed at a Chatham address has seen his attackers jailed for more than 16 years.

Max Alexander and Aakeem Kelliot

On 20 February 2024, a man in his 50s was visiting associates at an address in Luton when, shortly after midnight, he briefly left the premises. But when he returned, he met two men who had not been there earlier and who demanded he handed over his cash. Fearing he would be harmed the victim gave them around £100 and his mobile phone.

The men demanded more cash and when he said he did not have any more, he was stabbed multiple times. The robbers fled the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

In a complex investigation into the incident which included the examination of CCTV in the area, detectives were able to prove that those involved in the incident were Aakeem Kelliot, who had wielded the knife, and Max Alexander.

Investigators promptly tracked down and arrested Kelliot and Alexander on 22 February. The two men, both of no fixed address, were charged and remanded. Kelliot pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to wounding with intent. Alexander was found guilty of robbery at the same trial. On Tuesday 14 October 2025, Kelliot, aged 34, was sentenced to 10 years and four months. Alexander, aged 41, was jailed for six years and six months.

DS Richard Taylor said:

‘This was a violent assault on an unsuspecting man who was visiting some people he knew. He did not expect to be stabbed and it is only by chance that his injuries were not fatal. Kelliot and Alexander are individuals who resorted to the use of force in an attempt to unlawfully deprive the victim of cash and personal belongings. Having fled the scene of their crime, they did not expect to be swiftly identified and brought to justice by Medway detectives. This miscalculation has resulted in lengthy prison sentences for them both.’
