A man is facing multiple charges following a series of attempted vehicle thefts and a robbery reported across the Gravesend and Gillingham areas last week.
The sequence of events began on Thursday, October 16, 2025, when officers were called to Valley Drive, Gravesend where a woman reported that a man had allegedly attempted to steal her vehicle, a Jaguar F-Pace, while she was briefly away from it. The suspect reportedly entered the car through the driver’s door but fled the scene when the vehicle’s owner returned and confronted him.
The following day, Friday, October 17, police were sent to Thong Lane, Gravesend, following a report of a robbery. A man, sitting in his Ford Fiesta, reported that another individual approached, took the keys from the ignition, and made threats toward him and his passenger before driving off in the vehicle. Despite a police pursuit, the stolen car was not recovered at that time.
The series of events concluded on Saturday, October 18, in Roseberry Road, Gillingham. Officers responded to a report that a woman’s Toyota C-HR had been stolen while she was inside a shop. Following quick enquiries, officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle near the A2. The vehicle was successfully stopped on Wrotham Road, Gravesend, using a stinger device.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene where the final vehicle was stopped. He has since been formally charged with multiple offences, including:
- Attempted theft of a motor vehicle
- Robbery
- Dangerous driving
- Driving with no insurance
- Driving with no licence
- Theft of a motor vehicle
The suspect, who is currently of no fixed address, appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 20, 2025. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear next at Woolwich Crown Court on November 17.
