The Edwardian part of Folkestone’s Folca building—a substantial 26,963 square foot freehold known as Folca 1—is officially up for sale. Marketed by agents Avison Young, the prime town centre location is ripe for transformation and could suit a wide array of uses, subject to securing the necessary planning permission. The sale is part of the larger ‘Folkestone – A Brighter Future’ regeneration project.

Currently, Folca 1 is separate from the Art Deco section (Folca 2) on the upper floors, and the council plans to fully disconnect the two on the ground and basement levels early next year before the sale completes.

Cllr James Butcher, Cabinet Member for the District Economy, said: “The regeneration of the Folca building and the Folkestone – A Brighter Future project will positively transform the town centre. We will continue to redevelop Folca 2 and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the Edwardian part of the building too.”

Meanwhile, the council is moving forward with the development of Folca 2, which has secured significant funding, including £2.2 million from the regeneration project and a £1.4 million grant for carbon reduction. A final strategy for Folca 2 will be presented to councillors soon.
