A garage fire in Whitstable on Wednesday evening, 12 November, required the attendance of four fire engines and specialist support, resulting in one person being treated for smoke inhalation.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was alerted to reports of the blaze at The Ridings, Chestfield at 17:42 GMT on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used high-pressure hose reel jets and specialist ‘fog spikes’ to tackle the blaze. The operation extended beyond extinguishing the visible flames, with crews working to expose the garage roof to ensure all “hotspots” were dealt with and the fire was completely out.

One person suffered smoke inhalation at the scene and was passed into the care of paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). The cause of the fire, which was extinguished in two hours, is not yet known and is reported to be under investigation.
