Firefighters successfully tackled a commercial building fire on Duke Street in Margate yesterday, Saturday, November 15, 2025. The incident, which began shortly before noon, saw four fire engines deployed to the scene.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was alerted to the blaze at approximately 11:39 GMT. Crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, worked for several hours, using main jets and high-pressure hose reel jets to bring the flames under control. The incident was officially closed at 18:02 GMT.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) was also in attendance. KFRS confirmed that one person was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics at the scene. Details regarding the individual’s condition were not immediately available.

A KFRS spokesperson stated that the cause of the fire is currently believed to be accidental.
