Fire Engulfs Whitstable Bungalow Loft

A large-scale emergency operation was mounted this afternoon after a serious fire erupted in the loft space of a bungalow on Grimthorpe Avenue, Whitstable.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) confirmed they were called to the scene at 15:21 GMT on Monday, November 17, 2025, following reports of the blaze. The incident required a significant and rapid response, with five fire engines dispatched to the residential street.

Firefighters were supported by a height vehicle, suggesting the complexity of tackling the flames in the elevated section of the property, meanwhile crews, equipped with breathing apparatus (BA) for personal protection, deployed high-pressure hose reel jets in an intensive effort to bring the fire under control. KFRS personnel worked for over two hours to contain the damage, with the incident officially declared closed at 17:27 GMT.

A KFRS spokesperson confirmed that the fire was successfully contained to the loft space of the property, preventing the spread of flames to the lower floors. Crucially, authorities have confirmed there were no reported injuries to the occupants or emergency services personnel.
