Two fire crews were scrambled to The Street in Ashford around midday yesterday after a fire broke out in a home kitchen.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) confirmed they were called at approximately 11:50 AM on Sunday, November 16, 2025, to reports of the blaze. Two fire engines quickly arrived on the scene and firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, entered the property and successfully used high-pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the flames by 12:57 PM.
Initial investigations suggest the fire originated from the property’s washing machine. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to the occupants or emergency personnel.
Following the incident, KFRS crews issued a sharp reminder to residents about appliance safety:
“We urge the public to ensure their washing machine is not left in standby mode for long periods after use, and crucially, never run your washing machine overnight or while you are out of the house,” a spokesperson advised.
