Kent Police are urgently appealing for witnesses and private CCTV or dashcam footage following a fatal collision involving a mobility scooter in Maidstone.

The incident happened around 1pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, on the A229, Royal Engineers Road, near the pedestrian crossing by Maidstone Library when a silver Volkswagen Passat travelling towards Maidstone was involved in a collision with a man riding a blue mobility scooter. The rider, a man in his 80s, was taken to a London hospital where he tragically died from his injuries the following day. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was arrested and has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit needs your help. If you saw the incident, or the events leading up to it, please contact the police immediately.
