Tired of feeling unheard? Now is your chance to force Folkestone & Hythe District Council to tackle the issues that genuinely matter to you and your neighbours.
The council’s powerful Overview and Scrutiny Committee is opening the floor, actively seeking suggestions from residents like you to define its investigation agenda for 2026/27. This isn’t just a suggestion box—it’s a direct line to influence which district-wide problems the council is compelled to examine, challenge, and potentially fix.
What Can You Demand They Scrutinize?
Think big and district-wide. If it affects our community across Folkestone and Hythe and falls under the council’s core responsibilities, it’s fair game. This is your opportunity to put issues like failing infrastructure, poor service delivery, or major policy blind spots directly under the microscope.
- Councillor Mike Blakemore, Cabinet Member for Community and Collaboration, stressed the urgency: “The importance of residents engaging with the work of the council cannot be underestimated. This is a perfect opportunity to be directly involved. The committee’s members are very keen to hear your suggestions—bring us your toughest topics.”
CRITICAL RULES: Keep in mind, your suggestion must:
- Be relevant across the entire district.
- Be within the local authority’s remit.
- NOT have been reviewed in the last 12 months.
- NOT be about individual complaints, planning applications, or licensing issues.
Don’t miss the deadline! Submissions must be received before 3pm on Monday, 26 January 2026.
