Detectives from Kent Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Chatham. Officers were called at 3.11am on Tuesday 2 December 2025, following reports of an assault in a private property in Thorold Road, Chatham.

Police and other emergency services discovered a 19-year-old man inside the premises suffering injuries consistent with stab wounds. The victim was treated by paramedics but was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A man in his 30s from Chatham was arrested in connection with the incident, and remains in custody. Enquiries are underway with cordons in place in Thorold Road and an adjacent alleyway. Police are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact them. Residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam are also asked to check for relevant footage.
