A man responsible for persistent disorderly behaviour in Maidstone has been banned from the town centre. Robert McCann was arrested in Bishops Terrace on suspicion of 13 breaches of his Community Protection Notice, on Friday 14 November 2025.

McCann’s offending included entering an exclusion zone and being in possession of alcohol. He was bailed to court but was arrested several days later after breaching his bail conditions.
McCann, 51, of no fixed address, was immediately remanded to Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 21 November. Officers applied for and were granted a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order.
The restrictions in the order require McCann not to enter the High Street or Mill Street areas, not to have an open container of alcohol, not to enter any shop where he is banned, or re-enter any retail premises after he has been asked to leave by a member of staff.
Inspector James Ross said:
‘This man has been responsible for persistent antisocial behaviour in the public spaces of Maidstone and caused considerable disruption for local businesses and residents. He has failed to comply with previous warnings and restrictions, and officers have now successfully applied for a court order. Should McCann fail to follow the requirements of the order he will be promptly arrested and returned to the court where he risks a fine or a prison sentence.’
