An Elvington resident was passed into the care of paramedics this afternoon following a domestic fire involving a tumble dryer on Adelaide Road.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) was alerted to the incident at 14:30 on Wednesday in which two fire engines were dispatched to the scene in Elvington, near Dover, to tackle the blaze.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire originating from a tumble dryer within a residential property. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus entered the premises and used high-pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the building. The scene was declared safe by 15:09.

South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) attended the scene to assist and one person was treated by paramedics. Fire investigators have stated that the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Fire services frequently remind the public to clean lint filters after every cycle and to never leave tumble dryers running while sleeping or out of the house.
