Fire crews have responded to a house fire in Hamstreet, Ashford at lunchtime today.
People living or travelling near this area are being advised to close windows and doors due to smoke coming from the incident and to also stay away from the area.
Six fire engines and a height vehicle attended the blaze and crews worked hard to extinguish the flames.
Due to heavy smoke, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) advised local residents and travellers to keep all windows and doors closed and to avoid the immediate area to ensure emergency access.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service, which was called earlier today to reports of a house fire in White Admiral Way, in Hamstreet, Ashford has reported that one child sadly died at the scene, and another was taken to hospital.
Ann Millington, KFRS’ Chief Executive said:
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with everyone affected by this tragic incident, especially the child’s loved ones. We understand this will be a distressing time for the local community and support is available at a welfare hub set up at Hamstreet Village Hall.”
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently ongoing.
