A third person has been arrested following a fatal collision on the A289 Gads Hill in Gillingham involving a grey Mercedes estate and a pedestrian, at around 12.10pm on Monday 29 December 2025.
It is reported the vehicle continued and was later found in Eastcourt Lane, where the two occupants had left on foot.
The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, had been carried by the car and was located on the ground at Grange Road. He was treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service but was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Later the same day, investigators arrested two men in connection with the collision, a 29 year old from Chatham and a 28 year old of no fixed address, who both remain in custody. A third man was arrested on Tuesday 30 December 2025. The 28 year old from Edgware, London, remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Zoe Wilczek of Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
‘We would like to thank all those who have assisted our investigation so far. While we are not longer for any further suspects at this time, we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the vehicle or pedestrian prior to the collision, to contact us. We’re also asking anyone who may have caught any part of the incident on their dashcams and CCTV, and has not yet got in touch with us, to do so.’
