A 37-year-old woman has been charged with 16 counts of theft following a series of shoplifting incidents at supermarkets across Canterbury.

The charges follow an investigation into reports that a store on Herne Bay Road, Sturry, was repeatedly targeted between October 19 and December 24, 2025. Alleged stolen items included meat and wine. A separate theft of alcohol was also reported at a High Street supermarket on September 6.

Officers arrested the suspect on the Isle of Sheppey on Tuesday, December 30. Following the arrest, the suspect, from Upstreet, was processed and formally charged with 16 counts of theft. The accused has been released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before a Magistrates’ Court on February 25, 2026.
