ROCHESTER – A 45-year-old man has been charged in connection with a New Year’s Day break-in at a restaurant on Rochester High Street.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 AM on January 1, 2026. Authorities allege that a window was smashed to gain entry to the premises. Although the establishment was breached, no items were reported missing from the scene.
Following a review of CCTV footage and local enquiries, officers tracked a suspect to an address on Church Street. The individual was taken into custody on Tuesday, January 6.
The suspect now faces two separate counts of burglary. On January 1, 2026, he was charged with burglary with intent to steal at the High Street restaurant and on, October 25, 2025, a separate count of burglary involving a pub, also located on the High Street, where cash was reportedly stolen from the tills. The defendant remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
