RAMSGATE, Kent — A forensic investigation is underway following a fatal single-vehicle collision on Newington Road on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 9:52 AM on Friday, 9 January 2026, following reports that a vehicle had crashed. Despite the rapid intervention of specialised medical teams and fire crews, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scale of the incident prompted a multi-agency response. Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dispatched two fire engines to the location, where crews worked alongside paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). The Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (HEMS) was also deployed, landing doctors and advanced clinical practitioners at the scene to provide critical care. Kent Police officers cordoned off the area, closing a section of Newington Road to all traffic for several hours.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin. The road remained closed into the late afternoon as specialist collision investigators examined the site to determine the cause of the crash. There have been no reports of other injuries. Kent Police are likely to appeal for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage who were in the Newington Road area between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM to come forward.
