Kent Police are urgently appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a tragic incident in Ramsgate on Friday morning.
Investigators from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are working to establish the circumstances surrounding a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred on 9 January 2026.
At approximately 9:55 am, a blue Ford Fiesta was traveling along Newington Road. For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle left the road and collided with railings in the vicinity of the railway bridge. Emergency services, including officers and crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECamb), attended the scene immediately.
Despite the efforts of first responders, the driver—a man in his 70s from the Ramsgate area—was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.
