It wasn’t a high-speed chase or a long-term sting that took down Sabjon Shehi—it was a lapse in basic car admin.
The 21-year-old criminal, who used a purple Jaguar to navigate his drug-dealing network, was stopped by police in High Brooms last August simply because his vehicle was uninsured. That stop led to a chain of discoveries that ultimately revealed Shehi was part of an organized criminal group.
Despite Shehi’s claims that his stash was for “personal use,” a search of his Sevenoaks residence told a different story. Police found high-purity cocaine tucked away in a Louis Vuitton bag, alongside thousands of pounds in “criminal property.”
Maidstone Crown Court heard that Shehi had been funding a high-end lifestyle through the sale of Class A drugs. On Monday, that lifestyle officially ended. Judge’s stripped Shehi of his car and over £7,000 in cash—ordering the assets to be given to charity—before sentencing him to 28 months in custody.
Detective Inspector Rob Hemsley said:
‘From the moment police stopped the car and spoke to Shehi, none of his claims were found to be true. The fact was he had travelled, uninsured, to Tunbridge Wells, with the hope of dealing class A drugs. However officers acted quickly to disrupt his criminal operation, and now he will spend time in prison. His lifestyle included luxury goods and we are grateful to the court for taking action to stop him keeping the money he made through causing other people’s misery.’
