Vehicles have been seized and traffic offences reported during the latest operation to tackle anti social and dangerous driving in Gravesend.
Officers from the Special Constabulary and the Community Safety Unit joined forces during the weekends in November, December and January in response to concerns about illegal driving in the town including driving without insurance, or a licence or tax as well as overweight vehicles and dangerous driving.
In total 25 vehicles have been seized and 60 traffic offence reports issued to drivers.
Incidents included –
- On Saturday 5 December 2025, a resident raised concerns about cars blocking the road in Cobham Street when officers sighted one the vehicles driving off. It was stopped and the driver was found to have no insurance and was disqualified from driving. They were reported for the offences and the vehicle was seized.
- Officers noticed a vehicle carrying tools and equipment that was heavily overloaded in Crete Hall Road on Saturday 6 December 2025. Further checks established the vehicle had no insurance or tax. The driver was issued a Traffic Offence Report and the vehicle was seized.
- On Saturday 10th January 2026 a male was stopped on Wingfield Bank, Northfleet when the officers noticed damage on the vehicle, checks returned no valid insurance and no tax on the vehicle since July 2025. The driver was issued a Traffic Offence Report and the vehicle was seized.
Chief Inspector Lee Cheesman said:
‘We know how dangerous and disruptive anti social driving can be for local communities, and these operations show our commitment to tackling it.
‘We’ve been able to take uninsured and unsafe vehicles off the road and send a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated.’
