Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a flat fire on Newcastle Hill in Ramsgate yesterday afternoon, Thursday, January 15. The emergency response began at 4:27 PM and involved ten fire engines along with a height vehicle (ALP) from the Thanet area.
Upon arrival, crews wearing breathing apparatus worked to extinguish the flames using main jets. Thanks to the rapid response, the fire was successfully contained to the bathroom of the property. Firefighters also utilized positive pressure ventilation fans to clear smoke from the building. The incident was brought under control by 5:43 PM.
One person was treated at the scene before being passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). Kent Police also attended to provide support.
While nearby residents were initially evacuated as a precaution, they have now been allowed to return to their homes. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
