A Coastal Transformation: Changing Tides Coastal Centre Set to Revitalize Greatstone

The Greatstone seafront is preparing for a vibrant transformation as the district’s newest beachside destination officially takes its name: the Changing Tides Coastal Centre. Set to open its doors later this year, the Folkestone & Hythe District Council project is quickly becoming a beacon of modern coastal living.

This exciting development features a brand-new café, dedicated water sports facilities, and 93 stylish beach huts, all designed to breathe fresh energy into the local shoreline.

The project goes beyond just leisure, offering practical upgrades to the visitor experience through a fully remodelled car park equipped with electric vehicle charging stations and high-quality public toilets. As construction nears its final stages, the name “Changing Tides” captures the spirit of the project’s mission to evolve the area into a premier seaside hub for residents and tourists alike.

Cllr Connor McConville, Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation, said:

“Changing Tides Coastal Centre will be a new destination for recreation, tourism and economic growth on Romney Marsh.

“Everything is really starting to take shape now and we believe this project will complement other offerings elsewhere in the district, such as the successful Folkestone Harbour Arm.”

Those interested in operating the café are now being invited to register their interest through Motis Estates. Viewings are strictly by appointment. The beach huts waiting list remains open. Visit the council’s website for more information about availability.

With the opening date approaching, the council is now looking for a visionary partner to take the helm of the centre’s café. Prospective operators are encouraged to register their interest through Motis Estates, with viewings available by appointment for those ready to lead this new culinary hotspot. Meanwhile, the beach hut waiting list remains open on the council’s website for those eager to secure their own piece of this rejuvenated coastline.
