STROOD — Two individuals have been charged after a man was robbed at knifepoint in Darnley Road last Friday afternoon. The charges follow a rapid police response that resulted in six arrests within 40 minutes of the initial report.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on January 16, 2026, when a victim was reportedly threatened with a blade and stripped of his coat, mobile phone, and cash. Officers attending the incident tracked suspects to a nearby residential property, where they apprehended six people and successfully recovered the stolen property.
A 19-year-old local man faces charges of robbery and possession of a knife in a public place. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on February 16. A 17-year-old male has also been charged with robbery and was granted bail ahead of a February 2 appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
Four other suspects—two men aged 18 and 19, and two 17-year-old boys—were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been released on bail while the investigation continues.
