The Met Office warns of spells of heavy rain expected across Kent from Monday night through Tuesday morning. This yellow warning indicates a medium likelihood of impacts, primarily focusing on transport disruption and localised flooding.

Heavy rain is forecast to build up widely across the county, with expected totals of 15–25 mm in most areas. Some locations may see as much as 30–40 mm, and up to 50 mm could fall over higher ground. Because the soil is already saturated from recent weather, this additional rainfall is likely to cause immediate runoff and flooding issues.

Travellers should prepare for spray and flooding on roads, which will likely result in longer journey times and hazardous driving conditions. Public transport, including both bus and train services, is expected to be affected by delays or cancellations. There is also a possibility of flooding for a small number of homes and businesses, along with potential interruptions to power supplies and other essential utilities.

Residents are advised to check if their property is at risk of flooding and to prepare a flood plan or emergency kit if necessary. To avoid significant delays, please check road conditions and public transport timetables before you travel and be prepared to amend your plans. It is also wise to gather torches, batteries, and mobile power packs in case of power cuts. Because weather warnings can change quickly, the Met Office recommends staying updated with the latest local forecasts throughout the duration of the alert.
