Firefighters are reminding residents to ensure their chimneys are professionally swept after tackling a blaze in Maidstone yesterday evening.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident in Grace Avenue at 19:20. Two fire engines and a height vehicle attended the scene, where crews used breathing apparatus, chimney gear, and high-pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

The incident was brought under control by 21:59. No injuries were reported, and while the exact cause remains unknown, the service is urging the public to maintain their flues regularly—particularly if they haven’t been used for an extended period.
