Ashford Borough Council (ABC) has successfully completed essential roofing works at International House, securing a £10,000 social value donation for local causes as part of the project contract.

Following the council’s relocation to the tower block, principal contractor Acclaim installed an advanced, insulated Bauder waterproofing system. The upgrade, which includes a 30-year warranty, was completed on schedule despite the technical challenges of working around roof-mounted electrical equipment.

As part of the contract’s social value commitment, two local organizations received funding:

  • Bright City Church (£8,000): Funds will be used to repair the church’s own roof.
  • Lord Whiskey Charity (£2,000): The donation will purchase winter hay for rescued horses.

Representatives from both charities recently met with the Mayor at International House to discuss the impact of the grants. Cllr Simon Betty, Portfolio Holder for Commercial Property, praised the dual success of the project, noting that the improvements to the council’s infrastructure have directly translated into meaningful support for the Ashford community.
