ASHFORD — A proactive patrol by local officers on Alfred Road led to a significant seizure of illicit substances and weaponry this past weekend. The incident began on Saturday, January 24, when officers intercepted a man operating an electric bicycle that failed to comply with legal requirements for e-bikes.

Upon detaining the rider, police recovered suspected heroin and cannabis, approximately £200 in cash, and two mobile phones. Authorities also determined that the individual was operating the vehicle while disqualified.

The investigation intensified following the initial arrest as officers executed a search at a nearby property. This secondary operation yielded further quantities of suspected narcotics, additional communication devices, digital weighing scales, and a knife.

The suspect has since been charged with multiple offences, including possession of drugs with intent to supply and driving while disqualified. Following a preliminary appearance at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the individual was remanded in custody. The case is scheduled to proceed to Canterbury Crown Court in late February.
