A local police team has made 11 arrests in one morning as part of an intensive day of enforcement. On a recent Friday in January 2026, officers from a regional Community Support Unit completed proactive patrols across the district and targeted multiple properties connected to crime. Among those arrested were individuals wanted following allegations of stalking and racially aggravated assault, and others who had failed to appear in court.

To assist detectives investigating a report of threatening behaviour from the previous month, officers travelled to a neighbouring area to track down a suspect. A 35-year-old man was subsequently charged with making threats to kill and arson endangering life; he was remanded to a crown court hearing scheduled for late February.

Patrols in a local high street spotted two individuals who were banned from the area by protection notices. Both were immediately arrested, with one being charged for the breach. In support of local business owners, two people were arrested and charged with theft offenses, while another pair were detained and later given community resolutions relating to suspected retail crime.

An inspector from the unit stated that their teams, including ward officers and town centre staff, are committed to protecting residents and shop workers from those intent on committing crime. The inspector noted that high-profile patrolling and efforts to track down wanted individuals are key to this mission. They described the day of enforcement as particularly successful and warned that anyone in the area who is wanted by the police should expect a visit from their teams.

Inspector Allen Searle said:

‘Our Community Safety Unit, including our ward officers and our town centre teams, are committed to protecting residents and shop workers from those who are intent on committing crime. High profile patrolling along with efforts to track down wanted people are two ways of achieving this aim.

‘We are relentless in this task and our day of enforcement was particularly successful with multiple arrests and charges. Where possible, we place suspects before the courts with a view to removing the threat they pose on the streets completely. Anyone in Medway who is wanted by the police should expect an early morning visit from one of our teams.’
