SHEPPEY — Serious collision investigators are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal road traffic incident on the A249 Friday night.
At approximately 11.20pm on Friday 30 January 2026, a grey Kia was travelling southbound on the A249 northbound carriageway in Sheppey, when it was involved in a collision with a BMW. Emergency services, including Kent Police patrols, the South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire and Rescue, were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Tragically, a woman in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that her next of kin have been informed.
Three other individuals sustained injuries during the collision which included a man and a woman who were transported to a London hospital, where they currently remain in serious condition and a second man who was taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
The A249 northbound remained closed for several hours overnight to allow specialist investigators to examine the scene. The road was reopened at approximately 8:00 am today, Saturday, January 31.
Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are carrying out enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the vehicles immediately before the collision.
