A 39-year-old man of no fixed address remains in custody following a series of overnight attacks on commercial properties in Ramsgate. The suspect was apprehended after Kent Police responded to reports of widespread property damage discovered in the town centre early Saturday morning.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 6:00 a.m. on January 31, 2026, where they found multiple storefronts with smashed windows. The damage was concentrated across several major thoroughfares, including York Street, Queen Street, King Street, and the High Street.

Following a rapid investigation, authorities arrested the individual and formally charged him with causing criminal damage to 14 separate buildings. The charges also include the theft of a ladder brace and the attempted criminal damage of a vehicle. The defendant was remanded in custody over the weekend. He is scheduled to face these charges during an initial hearing at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 2, 2026.
