A construction worker has been convicted of murdering and robbing a customer following a dispute over owed money in Dartford.
Dorin Ciorba’s victim, Osaretin Oronsaye, was found dead at his home in Dunlop Close on 5 July 2025.
Officers meticulously reviewed hours of CCTV footage and were able to place Ciorba in the area at the time of the murder. Footage showed him arriving at the town’s train station before cycling to Mr Oronsaye’s home.
Ciorba entered the property and left a short time later wearing different clothes, before boarding a train back to London. On arrival, he immediately used Mr Oronsaye’s bank cards for several transactions.
He was arrested at his home address in Barking, Essex on 17 July 2025. During a search of the property, officers recovered the victim’s bank cards and car keys, along with paperwork relating to a small claims dispute between the two men. The documents had been served the evening before the murder.
Following a trial, Dorin Ciorba, 29, was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 12 February 2026 of murder and robbery. Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber, said:
‘Ciorba calmly travelled from London to carry out this senseless murder and truly believed he had gotten away with his crime. He arrogantly used Mr Oronsaye’s bank cards after searching online for reports of a murder and kept hold of the items he had taken from the murder scene. This case shows that no matter how calculated an offender believes they are, they will not get away with such appalling violence. I hope this verdict provides Osaretin’s family and friends with some comfort and will give them time to grieve their loved one.’
