Heavy rain continued today
The Environment Agency has warned that flooding is possible to low lying land, roads and properties with basements around these areas, Petham Bourne, Alkham bourne and Nailbourne including Alkham, Elham, Barham, Bishopsbourne, Bridge, Patrixbourne and Bekesbourne and it is closely monitoring the situation.
Groundwater levels in East Kent have been rising following significantly wetter conditions since January. Levels are continuing to increase in February in response to heavy rainfall.
Keep up to date with groundwater levels on the ‘Check for Flooding’ site on gov.uk . Riparian owners are reminded to keep rivers on their land clear. This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 20 February 2026 or as the situation changes.View map of the flood alert area
