EAST MALLING — Kent investigators are working to reunite dozens of suspected stolen items with their rightful owners following a significant seizure in East Malling earlier this month.

The recovery occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 7, 2026, after a patrol stopped a white Ford Transit van on Temple Way. Officers originally intercepted the vehicle on suspicion that a passenger was in possession of controlled drugs.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a cache of equipment and items typically associated with organized theft, including:

  • More than 60 power tools and hand tools.
  • Multiple balaclavas and pairs of gloves.
  • Several nitrous oxide canisters.

Two men from Bromley were arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft and drug-related offences. Both individuals have since been released on bail while investigators continue their inquiries. Police are now urging anyone who may have had tools stolen in the East Malling or Bromley areas recently to come forward. Documented proof of ownership or identifiable markings on the equipment will be required for any reclamation.

PC Thomas Wild said:

‘Enquiries into the seized tools are underway and we believe we have linked some to 10 burglaries across the southeast, dating back several years. We are now appealing to victims of burglary and theft who think we may have recovered their stolen property to call us. You will be asked to provide proof that the item is yours.’
