Officers on the beat in Gravesend have seized a large quantity of cocaine after noticing a man acting suspiciouslyin the town.

Luis Batusha, 24, was seen loitering on Rochester Road at around 2pm on Monday 2 March 2026 but when the patrol car stopped near him, he fled the scene.

While pursuing him on foot, officers saw him discard a large package onto the floor. Once apprehended, Batusha was searched and found to have two phones and £335 in cash on him. They also recovered the bag he had thrown which contained a quantity of cocaine deals. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

A further search of a property linked to the man resulted in the seizure of a brick of powdered cocaine weighing half a kilogramme, as well as a large number of deals and some scales. Luis Batusha, from Gravesend, was later charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply. He pleaded guilty at his first hearing before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 3 March and has been remanded in custody until his sentencing.
