BROADSTAIRS – Emergency crews launched a coordinated rescue operation in Broadstairs after a person became stranded on a cliffside near Marine Drive.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene with five fire engines and a specialist water safety unit. Personnel worked alongside teams from HM Coastguard to secure the area and reach the individual.
Due to the precarious location of the person on the cliff face, the HM Coastguard helicopter was deployed to airlift the individual and they were successfully airlifted to safety with no injuries reported during the incident.
The fire service remains on standby 24 hours a day for such emergencies and thjey are reminding the public to exercise caution near cliff edges.
