A 29-year-old construction worker, Dorin Ciorba, has been jailed for life after being convicted of the calculated murder and robbery of his customer, Osaretin Oronsaye. The sentencing by a judge at Maidstone Crown Court, ordered Ciorba to serve a minimum of 32 years behind bars.

The court heard that the killing was the culmination of a financial dispute, with Ciorba also facing deportation once his lengthy sentence is concluded.

The investigation began on 5 July 2025, when Mr. Oronsaye was discovered dead inside his home on Dunlop Close, Dartford. Detectives from Kent Police built a comprehensive case against Ciorba by meticulously analyzing hours of CCTV footage. The digital trail captured Ciorba arriving at the local train station and cycling directly to the victim’s home. After a brief period inside the property, Ciorba was seen leaving in a completely different set of clothes before fleeing back to London by train.

Financial records further incriminated Ciorba, showing that he began using Mr. Oronsaye’s stolen bank cards for various transactions almost immediately after arriving back in the city. Following his arrest on 17 July 2025 at his home in Barking, police uncovered a cache of evidence, including the victim’s car keys, the stolen cards, and legal paperwork regarding a small claims dispute between the two men. These documents had notably been served just one day before the murder, providing a clear motive for the attack.

Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber, said:

‘I hope this lengthy custodial sentence provides Osaretin’s family and friends with some comfort and will give them time to grieve their loved one. Ciorba carried out a senseless murder and truly believed he had gotten away with his crime.

‘He arrogantly used Mr Oronsaye’s bank cards after searching online for reports of a murder and kept hold of the items he had taken from the murder scene.

‘This case shows that no matter how calculated an offender believes they are, they will not get away with such appalling violence.’
