Safety Guidance and Prevention

The fire is believed to have started accidentally while the battery was connected to a charger. In the wake of this incident, fire crews are reinforcing critical safety protocols for all battery-powered items.

It is essential to only use chargers and batteries purchased from reputable, high-street suppliers, as counterfeit or substandard goods pose a significantly higher fire risk. Residents are urged to strictly follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use and storage. Furthermore, batteries should never be left charging unattended or on combustible surfaces, and they must be disconnected once the charging cycle is complete to prevent overheating.
