Authorities investigating the rape of a teenage girl in Gravesend have charged five individuals in connection with the case.
The investigation began after Kent Police received reports on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, stating that the victim had been assaulted at a private residence on Salisbury Road between March 25 and April 19. Following the report, officers arrested two men and three teenagers during the subsequent Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Friday, April 24, a 33-year-old man from Woolwich was officially charged with rape. He was charged alongside three minors from Gravesend, including two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old. Additionally, a 46-year-old man from Gravesend was charged with aiding and abetting a rape. Regarding the backgrounds of those involved, officials confirmed that both men and two of the teenagers are Romanian nationals, while one of the 16-year-old boys is a British citizen.
The group made their initial appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 24, where legal proceedings regarding their detention were finalized. Both adult men have been remanded into custody, while two of the teenagers were remanded into youth detention. The third boy was released into the care of the local authority. The case has now been moved to Woolwich Crown Court, where all five defendants are scheduled to appear next on May 22.
