A Ramsgate man has been jailed for a series of violent offences including the rape of a woman.
On Saturday 7 June 2025, police were called to a bar in Ramsgate Harbour after a woman ran inside seeking help. She told attending officers that Oscar Love had assaulted her moments earlier on Ramsgate High Street.
Officers immediately began searching for Love and located him on Newington Road, where he resisted arrest before fleeing. He was detained a short time later after being found hiding in a garden.
An investigation was launched and the victim disclosed multiple other threatening and sexually violent incidents to detectives. Love was remanded in custody and subsequently charged with two counts of rape and six additional offences.
Following a four-day trial he was found guilty of multiple offences including two counts of rape. He has previously admitted separate offences of a breach of his existing Sexual Harm Prevention Order, assault and escaping lawful custody.
On Thursday 30 April 2026, at Canterbury Crown Court, Love was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Detective Constable Chris Harvey said:
‘Oscar Love is a violent offender, who caused serious physical and mental harm to his victim. Tackling violence against woman and girls is a Kent Police priority and we will do all we can to bring offenders like him to justice. I urge any other potential victims or anyone with concerns about Love’s behaviour to contact Kent Police.
‘I also want to commend the strength of the victim throughout this case. Her bravery and continued support with the investigation made the conviction received today possible.’
