The sun is shining on Folkestone’s future! On Tuesday, May 5, the town gathered for a vibrant Annual Council Meeting to celebrate a year of incredible heart and welcome a new era of leadership for 2026-27.
The evening kicked off with a standing ovation for outgoing Mayor, Councillor Lucy McGirr. After a whirlwind year of dedicated service, Cllr McGirr revealed a staggering fundraising total of over £3,100! These vital funds are headed to the East Folkestone Youth Club and United Response (Community Network Cheriton), leaving a lasting legacy of support for our local community.
In her final act, Cllr McGirr had the pleasure of presenting the prestigious KALC Community Award to Mr. Tim Geere. Tim was honored for his tireless devotion to the Royal British Legion, the Sea Cadets, and several local community groups. It was a perfect moment to celebrate the unsung heroes who make our town so special.
Cheers to Our New Mayor!
